Cooking with ChristyB!

Those that know me are probably wondering why on earth I, of all people, would start a cooking blog.

My original intent was to become more organized by creating a weekly dinner menu for my family as a way to force myself to cook.

In turn, this blog was created as a way to force myself to keep up with my weekly dinner menus so I wouldn't let down my tens of readers by not posting. It's a vicious cycle.

I never claimed to be a very good cook though I do enjoy giving it the 'ol college try. My family says I cook "Cajun" (as in BURNT). I simply don't have the patience to hang around the kitchen while something is cooking and I routinely forget to set the timer which often results in "blackened" dishes.

With the creation of my weekly dinner menus, I have found a new passion for cooking. I don’t dread cooking meals (at least not every night). I by no means create any of the recipes shared on this blog. I simply enjoy researching new recipes and sharing them with my readers along with my main passion, photography, by photographing images of the final product.

I hope you enjoy reading about my cooking adventures. Maybe my dinner menus will encourage you to be more creative with your family’s dinner meals.

Here’s to making a mess in the kitchen!

Monthly Dinner Menu ~ December

Yes, I realize I never posted a November menu. I’m a slacker. The busy season for portraits hit which caused my food blog to suffer. My appologies to my tens of readers!

With the crazy month of November behind me, I am determined to be as organized as possible during December. That is something I have not been able to do the first few years of my photography business. So far, so good this year. Of course, it’s only December 1st.

HERE is the December Dinner Menu for my family. A testament to what happens when you try to do too many things at once - I posted my entire December Dinner Menu on my Portrait Blog Event Calendar (instead of the What’s for Dinner Calendar on the food blog) and I didn’t realize it until I was completely done. UUUUGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!

For those that have asked:
1. Do we ever go out to eat? Yes, we do eat out. I just fill my menu with dinner ideas. The ones we don’t eat, I move to the next month’s calendar.

2. How closely do you stick to your menu? Honestly, I pick and choose each night’s dinner based on what I feel like eating, what I do or don’t feel like cooking and what groceries I have on hand.

3. Do you ever serve your family Hamburger Helper or frozen chicken strips? Not very often. Why? Because I can’t stand Hamburger Helper. I did leave frozen chicken strips one night when I was at a meeting. While out I got the message, “The dog enjoyed the chicken strips.” The family apparently wasn’t impressed with my meal idea. They went out to eat instead.

4. Yeah. There is no number four. Those are the only questions I’ve been asked. :-)

Happy cooking!

December 1, 2009 - 12:14 pm admin - So sorry! It's fixed now. Yet another reason multi-tasking isn't always the best idea for me.

December 1, 2009 - 10:55 am Nici - Hey there.... it won't let me pull up the menu. I click on "HERE" and it takes me to a word press log in screen :-) I am one of the "tens" of readers and want to look at the menu! :-)
