BACK IN THE DAY...

I attended Pleasant Hill High School, class of 1990-something, home of the purple and gold fighting Roosters. (Yes, you read that right, Roosters.) There were 86 seniors in my graduating class.

I was a dancer - tap, jazz and ballet for 13 years. All those years of dancing didn't help my clumsiness one bit.

I was a singer - first PHHS student in many years to receive a I
rating on my solo at Districts. I went to State on the day of my
Junior prom. Unhappy about missing out on prom decorating, I royally screwed up my solo after driving 2 1/2 hours to get there with my mom and music teacher. Not one of my finest moments.

I played softball for 13 years. I was always #5, just like George Brett. I batted left handed, threw right handed and was a catcher. Catcher is not a good position when you are trying to keep your hair looking good for the boys during the game.

I was a member of Students Against Drunk Driving, Foreign
Language Club (today I can speak about 10 words in Spanish), Treasurer of Student Council, HighStep, Hillside Singers, Future Teachers of America (I actually went to college to be a teacher, then changed my mind), and Youth Advisory Council.

I attempted to run track my freshman year - the 200, long jump and triple jump. I didn't attempt track again my sophomore, junior or
senior years. In fact, I still try my best to run as little as possible.

Most embarrassing moment - I tried out for volleyball my freshman year. I didn't make the team. Did I mention, I didn't like to run? Irony, I now coach one of my daughter's volleyball teams.

I was a Golden Girl - the only freshman chosen to be on the drill team that year. Unfortunately, they did away with the Golden Girls the next year. Surely it wasn't because of me.

I was a cheerleader all four of my high school years. No running
was involved in cheerleading so I was pretty good at it.

I was chosen sophomore Courtwarming candidate.

My first car was a 1981 Honda Prelude, "The Silver Bullet". My personalized license plate read, JAZZ-N, a reference to my dancing. Don't ask me why. My father removed many a dent from the 'ol
Silver Bullet.

I played Laurie in our school musical, "Oklahoma".

I was voted Most Musical in my senior class.

My senior year my parents allowed me purchase a Mazda RX-7 sports car. It was, and still is, my favorite car I've ever owned. We could cram a lot of people into that two-seater car. That was before the days of required seat belts and before possessing much common sense.

High school was one of the most amazing times of my life. Being a senior photographer, I think back to my high school days often. I lived those years to the fullest and loved every minute of it.

I hope that all you seniors enjoy your high school years as much as
I did. Snap lots of pictures and take the time to savor your senior
year. Live life with no regrets and never forget to JUST BE YOU.
